How about a quick simple strawberry salad? We had a market run today and bought some basil and fresh strawberries. At first, we wanted to use them to make a dessert, but at the market, we got some fresh basil with an incredible smell. We then decided it would be a good combo for the smell alone and of course the taste. We added some nuts to give some crunchiness to the dish. Et voila! It’s a quick easy summer dish that is refreshing. Take advantage of strawberry season and make this.
1 pound of fresh strawberries
1 tbsp of honey
1 tsp of fresh lavender
¼ cup of almonds*
2 drops of almond extract (Optional)
2 leaves of basil
¼ tsp of olive oil
1. Wash your strawberries and cut in half or in 4 depending on preference and set aside in a bowl
2. Add the almonds, honey, lavender, the almond extract and the basil. Add some filet of olive oil and mix gently together.
3. Et voila! Now enjoy!
Bon appetit a tous!
*You could toast your almonds if you prefer, we did since Rody can't eat them raw.
